With all the ladies looking for love in downtown Bangkok, it’s hardly a surprise that the poor men here need a bit of help keeping “up” with their demands. Luckily, stocking up on erectile pills is no shame in this town, and, in truth, adding some chemical enhancement to your bedroom activities definitely gets you the most bang for your buck when dealing with Bangkok’s professional pussy corps. You have to go to the “local” drug stores for that. And in cities like Bangkok there are no-name drugstores in abundance, all anxious to sell you any prescription med you need (sex-related or otherwise).
The Real McCoy or Not?
Depending on how close you are to the nearest red light district the prices will vary, but expect on average to pay 1,500 to 1,800 THB ($45 – $50) for 4 shiny blue Viagra pills. Of course there’s no guarantee these are the real McCoys, but even if they’re fakes, they’re fantastic fakes! The packaging is dead on, the pill color and consistency is correct, and the promises promised are definitely delivered.
Cappra: Thailand’s premier homegrown boner booster.
Another great thing about these laissez-faire pharmacies is that the staff are often actual druggists, and asking about “herbal” remedies sometimes uncovers a few great alternatives. One wise old drugstore Buddha suggested Cappra (1,150 THB – about $35 for 4 pills) and Lankui (450 THB – about $14 for 2 pills), and although one internet blogger claimed Cappra kept him hard for 10 days straight, I found it just worked for one night (but what a great performance it gave that night!). In another shop a dragon lady in a white lab coat, with no hint of embarrassment, recommended Morlect (1,200 THB – about $36 for 4 pills) instead of the impossible to find Chinese Chao Jimengnan that I was originally after. And if I ever find that lady again I’ll thank her profusely for her wonderfully potent alternative suggestion!

However even these establishments face “stiff” competition from the army of street vendors who line the sidewalk of Bangkok’s seedier streets, hawking discount Viagra , Cialis , and Levitra . Here the prices drop dramatically, as 4 Viagra pills can be yours for only 400 THB (about $35). And if you look unenthused and walk away, the price usually drops even lower.
Now if all these low prices arouse your suspicions more than your manhood, you’re exhibiting wise self-preservation instincts. The scope of counterfeit meds is difficult to gauge, but the World Health Organization has said that in parts of Southeast Asia as much as 30 percent of pharmaceuticals are lacking the stated active ingredient. This covers outright fakes, expired meds, and even pills made improperly by barely regulated factories.
You might just be up all night wondering if Tian Xia Di Yi Bang really works as advertised.
Of course, it’s still fun to peruse the outlandish merchandise for sale, and some products might even be worth trying (or buying just for the packaging). The intriguing Plant Viagra will only set you back 750 THB (about $22) for 10 pills, and the extraordinary Tian Xia Di Yi Bang promises to take effect in 15 minutes and last 7 days (all for only 100 THB, or about $3 a pill). There’s also Kamagra Oral Jelly (works faster apparently), and a female viagra solution bizzarely named Blue Wizard . But the most amusing product of all was the Indian Flirting Powder aphrodisiac. It will tickle your funny bone even if it doesn’t affect any other bone.
