Cindy and Joe McDonnell’s unique partnership of ideas and execution produces a remarkable array of contemporary metal sculpture. Cindy’s background includes advertising, printing and graphic design, with many years spent managing her own successful business. Welding and fabrication classes sparked her interest in designing and constructing her own artistic creations.

Joe is a talented and accomplished fine artist and graphic designer with years of experience. He studied drawing and painting at the Ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris and apprenticed in the studio of well-known fine artists Siegfried Hahn and Howard Wexler. Their collaboration is synergistic, resulting in far more than the merging of two imaginations. Together, they have created an inspired, dynamic, and sometimes whimsical collection of innovative and collectible metal art. “It’s exciting to discover what’s hidden in the raw sheet of steel. We’re taking the mundane and turning it into something extraordinary. “

Michael Payne came to the United States from his native England in 1970, applying his degree in physics and mathematics to work in the computer industry. Realizing his real passion was in the arts, he obtained a second degree in interior design from UCLA. Michael developed a thriving interior design business and quickly became adept at furniture design so he was not limited by pieces that were available in the marketplace. When HGTV wanted a Los Angeles-based interior designer for their new show “Designing for the Sexes”, they found Michael to be the perfect host and designer . The show became an instant hit, airing for nine years, and Michael became well-known nationally for his design talents as well as his ability to solve difficult design conflicts between couples. Michael has continued to use his design skills creating furniture, rugs, and art pieces for various companies. Michael’s metal wall art represents his creativity in the arts and his understanding of technical issues. He uses inspiration from everyday objects to develop unique pieces that have a mathematical sensibility and a timeless quality

Karin Swildens was born in Holland, raised in Morocco where she learned French, and studied at “Les Arts Decoratifs” in Paris. After her studies, she worked on restorations of “Le Louvre Museum” paintings, illustrated children’s magazines and was the author and illustrator of a children’s book, “Poutou et Pitchoun” published by Dessain et Torla, Paris, France. She also designed several scarves for “Hermes”, one of the top fashion and accessory design companies in Paris.

Stories, experiences, imagination and mythology are the basis of her inspirations. She uses archetypal and personal symbols to convey a message of respect for “Joy and Humor in Life”.

In 1980, shortly after coming to the United States she began to create wood sculptures as a way to see and touch the “other side” of her paintings. By 1982 she focused her energy on clay and has loved it with a passion ever since. Karin’s current ceramic works feature “Horses” and “Women” and the two combined, “Symbolic Portraits”, “Doors” as experiences of life, “Talismans” and much more that you will discover on these pages. Karin Swildens’ artwork is shown in many southern California art galleries

Angela Alvarez was born in Havana Cuba in 1961. Her family left to escape Communism and settled to the US where she grew up, in Glendale, California. Angela breifly attended the Pasadena Art Center, but is primarily a self taught artist working with glass, metal, painting, and sculpture.

As a young adult Angela created art pieces for herself, giving most of her work away. Until one day, someone saw one of her pieces and encouraged her to display at the local farmers market. She made $80 that first day, and that’s where it all began. From that point forward she has wanted to share her gift of inspiration for hope and love with the world. She has been able to do that with her art, and with the wonderful people she has met in her travels.

All she ever wanted was to be was an artist; it is the essence of who she is, and her true happiness. She describes her work as “a way to capture a moment in time; an emotion.” Angela’s art has earned multiple awards, been used in commercials and TV shows, featured in written articles and displayed in collectors’ homes around the world.

Creating at the level of pure genius, are the brilliant artists behind C. Jeré by Artisan House. Each artist is completely his/her own in design, but all are armed with an unmatchable sense of ingenuity, talent and execution.
