Taking Generic Viagra to Thailand, help, anyone else taken ?
I use generic viagra which i order online for personal use as it is much cheaper than buying from the Doctor. I am heading there in 2 weeks and want to take some with me – packet will be sealed however i wont have an actual prescription with my name on it as its not a prescription from a Doctor etc. Will this be an isue in terms of entering through customs at the airport? It will have a sheet from where i bought it from stating what it is and it also says Sildenafil citrate on the packet.
also do I need to declare it when I am leaving Australia or only when entering? I have been told before to take my prescription but I dont have one I am hoping if the packet is sealed and they can see what it is ie not illegal drugs then it should be fine.
I will declare it though so they know I am not hiding it ,am I right in thinking worst case they will confiscate it ie i wont get arrested or anything?!
Thanks for your help.
I never declare any medications. Odds are you wont be search at customs anyway. i wouldn't worry about it.
Oh btw, vitamin V is available in Thailand without prescription.
"I never declare any medications. Odds are you wont be search at customs anyway. i wouldn't worry about it." – well, good for you. But that is totally irresponsible advice and I hope the OP and everyone else who reads this thread treats it with the contempt it deserves as well as your follow up about "vitamin V".
The consequences of not declaring and being caught by customs may result in a longer stay than you bargained for in the "Bangkok Hilton". Taking "vitamin V" (if that is shorthand for Viagra) of the unprescribed and probably imported from Myanmar variety could have even longer stay implications i.e. potentially fatal.
if I declare the generic item without a prescription am I looking at worst case scenario they just take it off me? I am assuming that i would not get in to trouble as I have declared it?
From anecdotal evidence it sounds like they would probably let me take it in even without a prescription as long as they know what it is but there is no way i would not declare it.
Wow Arandora–you are ridiculous. Nothing irresponsible at all about my post. Just truth. All my prescriptions are legally prescribed by doctor, in a prescription bottle with my name on it–I've been searched by customs before–they've seen them and never said anything. So what's your d**n problem. What an idi**. It's a fact that customs rarely searches tourists coming into Bangkok–its random and rarely done unless they have suspicions. The OP asked about viagra and I answered that its available in Thailand without prescription–in any pharmacy. That's the truth too. Not off some street corner as you seem to have in mind. If you don't trust pharmacies that's your problem. Your hilarious with the fears you raise. Viagra is accepted everywhere in world and used by 100's of millions of men. It serves a legitimate medical problem. It doesn't carry the stigma your small mind wants to imply. I found your comment ridiculous.
arandora,s comment was totally valid and informative ,
any type of that kind of medication can be bought over the counter in thailand ,but its probably fake , it still might work, but the stated dose won,t be correct if its fake theres quite a few reports of guys dieing after taking it.
myammar is the main place that suppies dr-gs to thailand , as arandora said.
calling someone an "idiot" is a big no-no considering arandora, is one of the best posters on here.
One of the few times I agree with you Ravenret.
I spent 4 months in Bangkok this winter and didn't enjoy the best of health. I found that drugs bought by myself at the local pharmacy strong painkillers, mild sleeping tablets, Amoxil antibiotics all worked, were easily available and could be purchased for about 1/3rd of the price they are in the UK.
I found there is usually somebody English speaking in most pharmacies even a very Thai area like Wongwian Yai and they were very helpful.
Viagra,Kamagra or Caverta is easily available without any questions asked in most Pharmacies. I have never seen any searches made of suitcases as you enter Bangkok and think its highly unlikely they would bat an eyelid if they saw Viagra.
What I would not advise you do is buy all these drugs in Thailand and take them back into your own country. In other words they are to be consumed in Thailand.
ps Ravenret I might agree with you but please don't be so aggressive with your posts!
Bob, simply put without all the rhetoric is this:
Viagra (real) is available at any pharmacy without a perscription. The pharmacists are licensed and know what they're doing just like in OZ. Generic is also available at a cheaper price.
I'd have to agree chemists are quite good in Thailand. Describe your problem and they will sort you out. Now would you go there for smth major? Nah that is better left seeing a doctor. Quite amusing the light sedative is normally given for everything. Help you sleep. Lol.
I wouldn't worry too much about bringing prescription Meds in, if it's prescribed to you then no worries. Name on bottle ect.
ED Meds in Thailand, readily available in the Chemist and not fakes. (brand names way more than generics that areade in India)
