First of all, yes, most likely you are 100% safe when taking Viagra. Don’t forget, Viagra had to be tested first on animals, then on humans, and then submit to the stringent requirements of the Food and Drug Administration…and that’s just to be sold in America. Pfizer had to repeat the process with every country that it wanted to sell Viagra in. So Viagra has been heavily tested and proven to be safe in the vast majority of cases, and there are only a handful of incidents where somebody has suffered a serious problem while taking Viagra correctly, out of millions of men actually taking it.
Of course, it’s possible to take it in correctly. Due to Viagra’s nature, namely opening up blood vessels, it can cause damage if you don’t listen to your doctor. If you have low blood pressure, eye trouble, or liver problems, you should talk to your doctor before taking Viagra. There’s no substitute for common sense and reading the label before taking any drug. With Viagra, and any other prescription medication, read the literature and understand what it does to your body, and put your health before your ego. You can’t impress the ladies if you’re being hauled away in an ambulance to pay your doctor to scold you.
Of course, even for people who can use it, there are…unusual side effects sometimes. Like for example!
Yes, Viagra may make you warm in certain areas…but it can give you a seeming cold in others. Due to Viagra’s potent effects as a vasodilator, it opens up all sorts of tubes…including the ones that put out mucus. So, even while you’re feeling stirring below the belt, you’ll be feeling something far less pleasant above it.
So, when taking Viagra, have some tissues handy and thoroughly blow your nose. Or, at least, breath through your mouth so you don’t distract your partner.
Viagra dilates blood vessels, bringing blood rushing to the fore in the place you want it most. But, since they can’t exactly precisely target these kinds of drugs, blood will also go rushing to the fore everywhere else.
Usually this just means you’ll flush red for a little while, but it can also lead to swelling of the face, limbs, and other body parts. See, not all swelling is…uh…swell.
What, precisely, is cyanopsia? It sounds gross. It sounds scary. Fortunately, it’s neither.
Cyanopsia is, simply, a blue tint to your vision. It’s not the only side effect involving your vision, which can include increased light sensitivity and loss of peripheral vision, but it’s definitely the strangest.
So essentially everything looks bluer for a few hours. No, that’s not why they made the pill blue, smart-alec.
Yes, we know, we know, getting a rise out of yourself is exactly why you take Viagra in the first place. We’re not saying that’s a bad thing. It’s just that generally, when you’re done with your erection, it has the common courtesy to go away.
Priapism means it doesn’t. And while having a permanent boner may sound great now, after four hours of increasing pain and damage to your penis, it’s not going to seem so great. Priapism is actually defined as a medical emergency and gets you immediate treatment. Besides, if it gets bad enough, they have to install shunts.
Yes. “Install”. With all that implies (namely surgery).
Yep, hearing loss.
What makes this strange is that it also includes Levitra and Cialis, and blindsided everybody from the FDA to the independent scientists studying the drugs to the drugmakers themselves. But, apparently, take Viagra for a few weeks and you may have temporary or even permanent hearing loss if you’re really unlucky.
It’s rare, but it’s a reminder that even the most stringent tests done by the best minds can’t anticipate everything. So take Viagra only as the doctor recommends, and talk to your doctor about any unusual effects. There’s no point in trying to have fun if you hurt yourself doing it.
Unless that’s your thing, but in that case, we don’t want to know.
