Herbal Viagra Overdose: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know.
Former NBA star Lamar Odom was found unconscious on the floor of a Nevada brothel after a binge of herbal viagra. The brothel’s owner, Dennis Hof, told CNN that Odom had taken the drugs since arriving at the ranch on October 10. This has got people wondering what exactly herbal viagra is. The truth is that any product that markets itself as solving erectile dysfunction calls itself viagra, named after the Pfizer branded pill, according to the Mayo Clinic.
The local sheriff’s office released 911 calls (listen to them here) from the Love Ranch employees. In the calls, the employees say that Odom used cocaine on Saturday, and had taken 10 tabs of sexual performance enhancing drugs over the three-day period.

1. The FDA Are ‘Targeting’ Herbal Viagra.
NBC News reports that the Food and Drug Administration has long been targeting the herbal viagra market. The network names specific brands of the herbal substance as “Full Throttle On Demand’, “3 Hard Knights” and “Ninja Mojo.” A warning on the FDA website about herbal viagra reads “This undeclared ingredient may interact with nitrates, which are found in some prescription drugs, such as nitroglycerin. This interaction may lower blood pressure to dangerous levels. Men with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or heart disease often take prescription drugs that contain nitrates.”

2. The Brothel Where Odom Was Found Makes it Clear That They Do Not Supply Any Viagra.

According to the Love Ranch website, Viagra is not supplied on the premises but the brothel does host “Viagra parties.” Quite what is featured in those get-togethers is not explained. Dennis Hof, the owner of the brothel, told CNN that he’d seen Lamar Odom drinking brandy and taking herbal viagra but nothing else. TMZ reports that doctors found traces of opiates and cocaine in Odom’s system. This comes as the gossip site also reports that Odom has suffered multiple strokes, the extent of which has not yet been established.

3. Some Herbal Viagras Are Toxic if Taken in Large Quantities.
A warning from the Mayo Clinic says that large quantities of herbal viagra can be toxic, in addition to blood pressure and flow issues. TMZ, quoting sources, says that Odom, upon watching an episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians , became irate and ewas popping “8 to 10 herbal viagras at a time.” A separate source told TMZ that Odom was taking regular Viagra from a prescription bottle.
4. The Most Popular Natural Viagra Is Known as Horny Goat Weed.
A Men’s Health feature from November 2014, listed the most popular and effective brands of herbal viagra. Among the most popular are Horny Goat Weed, Maca and L-Arginine, the latter given a rating of 8/10 with the comments saying “Nuclear strength – don’t expect much shut-eye with this one.” Legend has it that Horny Goat Weed was discovered when a Chinese goat herders noticed how horny male goats got after eating it. The Men’s Health piece adds “According to research by University of Michigan neurologists, it contains a compound called lacariin, which stimulates nerves and boosts testosterone levels.”
5. In 2003, 4% of All Emails Sent in the World Were Related to Herbal Viagra.
Most herbal viagra sales are made over the internet. An erectile dysfunction website detailed that in 2003, one in 25 emails sent in the world were related to the sale of herbal viagra.
