The Catholic Cemeteries Association continues with our monthly Sunday Grief Support meetings on September 19 th in two formats: In-person at six of our cemetery offices and virtually via Zoom. An RSVP is appreciated but not required for the in-office meetings. Safe meeting guidelines are followed as advised by the Diocese and local health authorities. We continue our special appeal to east side and Avon area parishes to let your grieving families know about our free and safe in-office monthly grief support meetings. Please advise leaders in your parish who are in contact with the bereaved, to reach out and suggest one of our grief support groups. Even if you have grief support at your parish, this is a free source of additional support for them. With the challenges and stresses in our current pandemic environment, many people are in need of one or more support systems. They will be blessed by taking advantage of all the support resources available to them. Our 2021 Grief Support Group info as well as our Walk to Remember info (registration started August 1 st ) is included below for posting on bulletin boards, inserting in your bulletins, or posting on your parish website.

Catholic Cemeteries Association provides free monthly grief support groups in two formats: In-Office (3pm) at six Cemetery offices and Virtually (5pm) via Zoom. We meet the 3 rd Sunday of every month; 4 th Sunday if the third Sunday falls on a holiday. Meetings are open discussion, surrounding a monthly topic or whatever is on your heart. The November 21st topics were“Thanks-Giving Grief” and “Preparing for the Holidays”. We offer a comfortable, private, and safe environment where you are free to explore your grief. Come and be in the presence of those who understand.

Catholic Cemeteries Association follows the guidelines set by the CDC, the State of Ohio, and the Diocese of Cleveland regarding COVID-19 protocols.
5:00 pm Virtual Grief Support group meets for an hour via Zoom and follows the same monthly topic discussion as the in-office groups.

Our monthly grief support e-newsletter, “A Closer Walk with Thee” provides much of the same helpful grief support information that is presented at the monthly meetings but can be enjoyed from the comfort of your home and from any device where you can access your email. This e-newsletter is emailed the first Tuesday of each month to any family/individual who has expressed an interest in our bereavement programs. Pre-Cana Online Program Available
The St Mary/St Helens Pre-Cana team has created an online Pre-Cana program.
It contains team couple videos on all the topics that are usually covered.
Links to the talks are sent to the engaged couples for their viewing, along with links to supporting resources.
- cost per couple is $15 for parishioners or $20 for non-parishioner
- once registered, they will receive an email with links to the talks, resources materials, and an online feedback survey
- after we see their feedback being submitted we will mail (US Mail) a participation certificate

Special Needs PSR
Our Lake Geauga District sponsors a Special Needs PSR program for all students who have physical, intellectual, or emotional challenges. The program is called Friends of Jesus, and is held at St. Gabriel parish from 10 to 11am on Saturday mornings. If you are willing to help make a difference in the lives of these students by assisting in the lessons, please contact Rachel Troha at St. Gabriel. [email protected]

We can all help by getting the word out to our parishioners to:
- Learn more about the USCCB’s position on Justice for Immigrants
- Learn more about the Dream Act and DACA from the American Immigration Council
- Phone your legislators at 202-224-3121 (updated number from the 9/11/17 District Meeting)
- Leave a message saying that you support the Dream Act
