Colors of the Season!

As a design major, I have always been very conscious about keeping track of the hot colors for the upcoming season. If you’re a color nerd like me you’ll know that Pantone, Inc. annually releases it’s top color at the beginning of each year. This new color will, more often than not, become a large part of the fashion trends for the seasons of that year, and will be incorporated in different ways. For those of you that aren’t so color savvy and are unsure what to shop for this year, I’m here to help. There are TEN top colors of the season, and to make it even better, we have garments in each color that you can incorporate into your wardrobe in so many ways. This doesn’t go for just the ladies, these color trends will also be seen in men’s fashion as well. So make sure to style your guy right. Here are the first five colors.
Sangria was a huge color last season, that continued into this entire year. It’s practically taken it’s place as a neutral tone. The deep red tone, almost a burgundy, looks good with everything. EVERYTHING. This Barry Bell Dress is so versatile. It’s a mini dress made by Show Me Your Mumu that is fully lined besides the sleeves and is practically wrinkle proof. SO perfect to take on a trip and just toss in your bag. The bell sleeves have a slit too, so they won’t be a in the way when you’re shopping or out dancing. For those of you who aren’t too keen on the mini dress, tone it down a bit and add just a touch of Sangria to your outfit with this Velvet Ganesha Bucket Bag !
This red is definitely more of an orange-toned red. These Drippy Shorts by Free People are AH-MAZING. The tie waist and over-sized pockets are perfect to pair with a Chaser tee (like our Good Ol’ Grateful Dead tee) or a chambray shirt. If you’re looking for something a little more dainty and feminine, throw on this Sunshine Penny Dress by Kenny . Have you seen the back? Check it here . Super cute cut out, but still appropriate for work! Don’t forget your orange lip ladies!
This color was the NUMBER ONE color for the year. It’s definitely a shade of purple that goes well with all skin tones, and a simple pop of the color is all you need to look super chic. But here at Flock, we don’t like just a pop of color but a whole lot of it. These Wild Bloom Party Pants by Show Me Your Mumu are super retro with a high waist and an ultra-flared leg and easy to style. We paired ours with, once again, Show Me Your Mumu’s Lancey Lace Crop Top . We also have the Hidden Treasure Dress by Ladakh . It’s floor length, with crochet edges, and a slit in the front (which I find to be more practical when walking than side slits.) With all over color, there’s so many ways to style it, like with a clutch .
These two colors are being seen together everywhere! A perfect pair! This Maison Scotch All-Over Printed Bomber Jacket is one of my favorite items at Flock at the moment. I cannot keep my hands and eyes off of it! It looks absolutely amazing with dark denim or any denim for that matter, and once again, Chaser tees or even a plain white tee so the jacket can do the talking. If sporty isn’t your thing, we have the Lucid Dreams Dress that is super girly and perfect any body type. Made by Ladakh , it has a gathered & tied neckline, that you can adjust and an elastic waistband so you don’t feel like you’re wearing a girdle.
This is one of my personal favorite color trends of the season. I feel that it is on the same level with Sangria, and can often times be considered a neutral nowadays. It’s great for any hair colors, any. I swear. Once again, here’s a Maison Scotch piece that I am dying over. This Sailor Sweater is super comfy but like all Scotch pieces, it’s so beautifully constructed that it will still look sharp. We paired ours with Scotch Desert Summer Shorts and a Janessa Leone hat. And lastly, as all Flockettes say, Chaser tees are absolute perfection. This Jimi Hendrix Moire Tee is the most amazing color. It’s a super relaxed fit with fitted sleeves, and of course neon on the graphic. It has a burnout effect on it, so it looks vintage and perfectly worn-out.
Stay tuned for the final five colors next week and get a move on with your new color trends!
