How does Viagra Connect work?
Viagra Connect works the same way as regular Viagra. It improves blood flow to your penis, making it easier for you to get an erection that’s hard enough for sex. Viagra Connect doesn’t force you to get an erection, it works by helping you to get an erection when you’re sexually aroused.

Viagra Connect FAQs
What’s the difference between Viagra and Viagra Connect?
Viagra Connect is a type of Viagra that is available over-the-counter. Viagra Connect is only available in a dosage of 50mg, but Viagra Connect and Viagra 50mg work in the exact same way and are equally effective.
What if Viagra Connect doesn’t work?
Viagra Connect is effective for most men, but not all of them. It is worth trying Viagra Connect on several separate occasions before you decide it is not working for you. If that is not successful you could try a higher dose of Viagra. Viagra Connect is only available at one dose, so you could speak to your doctor to try Viagra 100mg, which is a higher dose. If that doesn’t work, Viagra Connect may not be right for you and you could try another erectile dysfunction medication.
Are there any alternatives to Viagra Connect?
There are several alternative treatments you can take if you have erectile dysfunction. Other similar medicines include Levitra, Cialis, and Spedra, which you’ll still need a prescription to get. Some men find that lifestyle changes, such as exercise or stopping smoking, can also be helpful in overcoming erectile dysfunction. For more helpful information on what other options are available to treat erectile dysfunction, read our doctors recommendations on Viagra Connect alternatives.
Does Viagra Connect make you last longer?
Viagra Connect can help you to get and maintain an erection, so it can help you last longer if you’re finding it difficult to stay hard for a long time. However, if you feel that you are orgasming too quickly then Viagra Connect won’t help, as it does not does not delay ejaculation. For more information, you can read our doctors’ advice on how to last longer, and if Viagra Connect can help.

Read what our doctors have to say about the risks of taking Viagra Connect with alcohol.
Can you get Viagra Connect over the counter?
Yes, you can safely and legally get Viagra Connect over the counter at most UK pharmacies. You will need to go through an assessment with the pharmacist to make sure that Viagra Connect is safe for you.
Can you get Viagra Connect on the NHS?
Viagra Connect is not prescribed on the NHS, but there are alternatives that work in a similar way. To find out if you can get a prescription for erectile dysfunction treatment from your GP, check out our doctors’ advice on how to get Viagra Connect on the NHS.
Can women take Viagra Connect?
No, women can’t take Viagra Connect. It is only licensed for male use in the UK, but in places such as the USA there is “female Viagra” available. For more information on how Viagra Connect affects women, read our doctors’ advice about what happens when women take Viagra Connect.
Does herbal Viagra Connect work?

Read our doctors’ advice on whether you should try “natural alternatives” like herbal Viagra.
Can I take Viagra Connect with other erectile dysfunction medications?
No, you should never combine Viagra Connect with another erectile dysfunction medication. Erectile dysfunction medications such as Viagra Connect, Levitra, and Cialis all work in the same way, so taking them together could cause serious side effects. Medical devices, such as penis pumps, can be used alongside erectile dysfunction medications to give better results.
How often can I take Viagra Connect?
You should only take Viagra Connect once per day. This is because it may be unsafe to take more than 50mg of Sildenafil, the active ingredient in Viagra Connect, without a doctor assessing you. You should be aware when buying Viagra Connect online – Viagra is one of the most counterfeited medicines in the world, and fake Viagra can contain very harmful ingredients. Does Viagra Connect expire?
Viagra Connect has a shelf life of about 2 years and can become less effective if it’s left unused for too long. Before taking Viagra Connect, check the expiry date on your packet, and ensure you use your medication before then.
If your Viagra Connect is past the expiration date, you should take it to a pharmacy for them to dispose of, and buy a new box of Viagra Connect as it may not be safe to take it.
To make sure your Viagra Connect lasts until the expiration date, it should be stored below 30°C and out of direct sunlight.
Why is Viagra Connect available over the counter?
Viagra Connect has been found to be safe for most men to take, so it doesn’t require a doctor to assess you before you can take it. You will still need to speak to a pharmacist before you can buy it over the counter in a pharmacy, as Viagra Connect can interact with some medications or may be unsuitable if you have certain conditions.
