Audition Process

PRIVATE AUDITION AND INTERVIEW

Private auditions are 20 minutes each and guarantee an opportunity to present work (two contrasting monologues: one classical and one contemporary) and interview with our faculty. To arrange a private audition, please send a cover letter indicating city and time preference, headshot, resume and a $50 audition fee to the FSU/Asolo Conservatory, 5555 North Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34234-2141 Attn: Debi Schalch. The Audition fee may be paid by cash, check, or money order payable to “FSU/Asolo Conservatory”. Applicants will receive email confirmation of audition time and location. Please note that private auditions may be scheduled either in Sarasota or in cities where U/RTA auditions are being held. Requests for auditions will be accepted beginning October 1 and the deadline is January 10. Thereafter, walk-in audition requests will be accepted as available at all audition city locations.

THE UNIVERSITY/RESIDENT THEATRE ASSOCIATION (U/RTA) UNIFIED AUDITIONS

U/RTA auditions allow students to audition for more than 40 different universities and resident theatre companies at one time for one fee. These auditions are held in January and February in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. Because candidates are NOT guaranteed a private audition and interview with FSU/Asolo Conservatory faculty at U/RTA, it is highly recommended that candidates interested specifically in the Conservatory arrange for one. To learn more about the auditions, contact the U/RTA office in New York at 212-221-1130 or visit their website at www.urta.com.

After a candidate receives an offer from the FSU/Asolo Conservatory, he/she must apply for admission to the FSU Graduate School. Any other questions about the audition/admission process can be answered by calling 941-351-9010 Ext. 2311 or by emailing [email protected].

2018 AUDITION DATES

Private auditions are held on-site at the FSU Center for the Performing Arts in Sarasota, Florida or off-site in conjunction with the U/RTA auditions in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. On-site auditions can be particularly valuable in that they allow candidates the opportunity to meet several faculty members and tour the Conservatory and the Asolo Repertory Theatre facilities. Off-site auditions take place yearly in New York, Chicago and San Francisco.
